Rarely do I get so current or even at all newsy in this here blog, but this news about a new director—Anand Tucker—chosen for The Golden Compass has me very excited. The former director, Chris Weitz, quit because of “technical challenges” he foresaw in making the film a reality. In my opinion, if they can manage to produce The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, or for that matter, The Lord of the Rings, then this trilogy (known as His Dark Materials) is certainly do-able.
